Researchers recently confirmed what we’ve long suspected: Our ancient ancestors liked to party too. The world’s oldest stash of weed was found preserved in the soil of a grave believed to be for a shaman in northwest China — perhaps for him to use in the afterlife. According to the Journal of Experimental Botany, the marijuana is around 2,700 years old.
There was no paraphernalia with the 789 grams of dried cannabis found with the body to give clues if the herb was ingested or smoked, but researchers did say it was common practice in burials for it to be used as medicine or for visionary purpose. So pretty much nothing has changed. [Source]
