The new iPhone 5 is expected to bring some radical changes to users and will mark the breakup of Apple and Google as widely used Google products will be replaced with Apple variants as well as hardware alterations that are expected to incur long term benefits to the handset.
The beta version of iOS 6 is giving hints on what users will see in the much awaited iPhone 5. We now have a clear indication that the tech giant will drop Google services and/or products and replace it with their own version. Moreover, design and hardware changes that may give users headache are on the way. Below are some of the imminent changes in iPhone 5
1. Google Maps
Upon the announcement of iOS 6 last June, it revealed that the new OS will bring in the new Apple Maps that will replace Google’s popular maps. The main difference between the two is that Apple Maps use vector maps that give users smoother experience.
Users will no longer have to wait to zoom in on places. However, Google Maps has Street View and there is a great possibility that Apple will offer a standalone app in the App Store.
Apple confirmed that it will ditch YouTube. The video-watching app dates from the early days of iOS, and there simply won’t be one offered with iOS 6 by default.
Instead, Google said it is developing its own YouTube iOS app, to be launched in Apple’s App Store at a later date. This may not incur serious difference to users.
3. 30-pin Dock Connector
Previous iPhones sport a 30-pin dock connector and earlier reports claimed that it will be replaced with 19-pin dock connector. This may impact consumers who would like to upgrade as they will also have to upgrade their accessories using 30-pin.Apple will reportedly offer an adaptor to ease out the transition from 30 to 19 pin connector.
New reports said that the new iPhone 5 will have a 9-pin dock connector. The beta version of iOS 6 holds proof on this claim. Smaller dock connector will yield more space inside for greater features.
iPhone 5 will probably use a smaller SIM card to yield more space inside the device. There is a great possibility that iPhone 5 will use nanoSIMs replacing its microSIM support.
5. Miniature Screen
One of the popular rumors surrounding iPhone 5 is it will come with 4-inch screen display. iPhone was mentioned lagging with features but Apple may start catching up with its rival.
Apple fall into second place in the smartphone market behind its main competitor Samsung. With minimal changes made on the outside, we can only hope that the Cupertino-based company packed more inside the new iPhone 5. Some of the rumored features of the upcoming iPhone 5 are 4G/LTE capability, A6 chip and equipped by the new iOS 6.
It was first reported that the new iPhone will be released on August 7. However, Boy Genius Report put cold on the rumor of August 7 release date. According to the “trusted sources” mentioned by the report, the iPhone 5 is most likely to be released in September or October. New reports claimed that Apple will launch the device on September 12 and will be available on September 21.
