Women have been urged to unite in their effort to remove the widely held perception that they are their own enemies. This, they could do by shedding negative attitudes and behaviours, demonstrate love and sincerity in their relationships, support subordinates in their work places to rise and promote peace with offending neighbours.
Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of the Asantehene, made the call at the 2012 national delegates’ convention of Aglow International Ghana, in Kumasi on Friday. The four-day event is under the theme “The key of David”. Lady Osei Tutu reminded adult women to encourage and support girls to achieve higher heights.
“Let us encourage the new generation to attain higher laurels, for it is known that women are more compassionate, better peace brokers and more nurturing attributes that are vital for nation building, so that more women reach leadership positions in our nation building , ” she said.
Lady Osei Tutu praised Aglow for working to bring glory to God and advised the group to continue with their teachings, inspiration, charity and love for their peers to win more souls for Christ. Madam Animah Wilson, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, commended members of the organization for dedicating their time, money and other resources towards the wellbeing of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized in society.
Mrs Dorothy Danso, National President of Aglow International Ghana, said though Government and the security agencies had been working hard to combat crime and ensure peace, their monthly intercessory prayers had brought to the nation God’s favour. She said the group would continue to pray to God to make this year’s general elections peaceful.
Mrs Danso said they had established a vocational training centre to provide employable skills to widows, orphans, street children, people living with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable people to earn meaningful living.
