Ghanaian singer Becca seems to have taken Ghanaian music to a whole new level with the release of a single music video that cost a whopping $50,000, NEWS-ONE has confirmed.
Never before has the production of a music video for any Ghanaian song cost anything near this amount and this has caused speculation among industry players on where she got the amount from and whether it makes economic sense to pump such into a single song.
The song, ‘No Away’, features Nigerian music heavyweight, M.I. (pronounced em-eye which stands for Mr. Incredible) and talks about Becca’s vows never to cheat in her love life.
Perhaps, the lyrics are an insinuative response to negative publications on her recent love life. NEWS-ONE sources said the amount did not entirely come from the bank account of the celebrated female artiste but rather a sponsorship package from giant liquor brand, Kasapreko Company Limited.
Indeed, it is the most expensive music video any Ghanaian artiste has shot in recent history and Kasapreko might obviously have a good reason to pump such an amount into the Ghanaian cum Nigerian duet between Becca and M.I. Pundits opine that because Kasapreko is a big brand in Nigeria, the company plans on riding on Becca’s collaboration with M.I. to further market the brand in both countries.
On Friday, June 29,Becca would be out-dooring the new video at the Lizzy Sports Complex in East Legon at a strictly-by-invitation event that would be attended by music notables from USA, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. NEWS-ONE has also gathered that EKB Records, managers of Becca, would use the 29th event to announce a date for the release of the artiste’s new album of which the ‘No Away’ track is part.
Becca has been rated among the top 10 African female singers and vocalists within the last two to three years. The rating was done taking into consideration, pure singing, artiste popularity, song popularity, demand for shows and concerts, award recognition, amongst others. She is the only Ghanaian artiste on the list.
