For the second consecutive game, Berekum Chelsea will not play their Caf Champions League home game in front of their fans. Al Ahly will be playing in Ghana for the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium after the football governing body refused the club permission to use the Berekum Golden City Park.
SuperSport.com understands that facilities at the stadium in Ghana’s middle belt do not fulfill the expectations of Caf, leaving the home side frustrated. Chelsea, now third in Group A behind Ahly and Mazembe, have been frantically upgrading the media and fans’ stands at the venue, while fixing internet facilities for media as required by Caf.
This decision will hit Chelsea hard, as they trail the Egyptians 4-1 from the first leg in Cairo. At stake in the game to be played next week in a place in the Caf Champions League semi finals.
