The 11-day tour on six nation by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has begun with her arrival in Senegal’s capital Dakar.
The Secretary of State arrived late on Tuesday for the trip to Africa which is meant focus on regional peace and security.
An American official said: “Our desire is to applaud the election of President Sall. Senegal has been our strongest and most reliable partner in francophone Africa”.
The new Senegalese President,Macky Sall was elected in March defeating Abdoulaye Wade who had been in power since 2000.
