Do you like the quality of our Ghana music videos?

Reminiscing on the collection of Ghana music video productions in 2010, I was overwhelmed with the lots of quality videos produced in the country. Gone are the days when videos and for that matter Ghanaian music videos were just nothing to write home about. But for some years now, some music video producers in the country have exhibited a high level of professionalism in their works.

Ghana has witnessed a lot of music video productions decades ago, hence, setting the pace for modern quality videos. Notwithstanding some inferior videos in the country, it is laudable to praise the works of some music video producers like OM Studios, Phamous Philms, Real House Philms, Emklan Videos, FlashBak Media, Solid Multimedia and House of Joy, for the level of professionalism. It is worth rewarding that these music video producers have internationally been acclaimed and won awards on the continent and overseas. This is as a result of the quality of special effects, directing, editing, sound and among others.

It was no surprise that during the first ever 4syte TV Music Video Awards in late 2010, it became apparently difficult for organizers choose winners for the various award categories – a sign of quality in the industry. This as a result of the quality of videos produced in that year and the past years that the awards covered. The hope is that, this event lives forever. As a showbiz pundit, I envisage Ghana as “the postern of classic music video in Africa”.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate music video producers and Ghanaian musicians who make videos for at least their singles available to be aired; it is a good showbiz strategy. But I would also like to advise them to at least seek the quality and not inferior. This is also to inform other music producers to get the right resources or equipments and also learn from producers and directors in the music video production who know much about it.
