The recent biometric poll or the Integrated Personnel Payroll Database 3, has caused several government workers not to be paid.Those affected are mainly teachers and other workers in the education sector whose names were omitted from the government payroll.
For this reason,the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU) and NAGRAT has called for an immediate analyseis of the system whiles it is suspended until an understanding is reached.
The new system which was which was aimed at eliminating the phenomenon of paying ghost workers has caused the most workers not to be paid.Earlier on,the finance ministry had warned against the idea of not registering and vowed not to pay those who do not register for the new system.
Leadership of the education workers believ the system was hurriedly implemented.As such,a lot of workers within the Ghana Education Service could not get registered, hence they were taken out of the payroll this July.
