FHM Philippines apologizes over ‘racist’ cover

FHM racist cover

A Philippine men’s magazine FHM has morsel the cover of its March issue and apologized after critics described it as racist.

It featured a fair-skinned actress, Bela Padilla, in a hot pink bikini flanked by dark-skinned women in black bikinis with the caption “stepping out of the shadows.”

Soon after the magazine uploaded the issue on facebook it received a slew of complaints that the cover was racist.

FHM apologized and said it will use a different cover when the magazine hits newsstands in March.

It said it will strive to be more sensitive in the future.
Bela Padilla spoke to the BBC’s Mishal Husain.
