The much anticipated ‘I love My Life’ concert expected to feature Jamaican Reggae super star Demarco has been postponed to July 7 due to technical issues with his flight.
The singer couldn’t make it to Ghana on the scheduled day which left organizers with no choice than to postpone the event.
Addressing the media during a press conference in Accra on Sunday July 1, Ghanaian International Afro-Reggae singer Samini who will be hosting Demaco in Ghana said “It is rather unfortunate that it had to come to this, for us to announce to the whole nation hours before the concert that it’s been postponed”.
According to Samini the reason for the postponement is because there were some problems with flight connections from one country to the other which complicated his journey to Africa. However, Samini disclosed that they have been able to secure a new date “We have been able to get confirmation for Saturday July 7, 2012 for us to hold the concert at the same venue”. He added that “this is a reassurance message and an apology for those who have added this event to their plans this weekend and have been disappointed in one way or the other. The show will definitely happen”.
The Press conference was address by Gyo of Phamous Media Group, Mr. Gerald Boakyi of LCA Ghana, Samini, Highlife legend Rex Omar and Mr. Andrew, Demarco’s business manager. They all assured Ghanaians of even a better show. A video footage of Demaco reassuring Ghanaians of his arrival to perform was played to the media.
According to the organizers, tickets sold already are still valid for the new date. This is the second time a major concert by an international act from Jamaica hosted by Samini, expected to perform in Ghana has been postponed. The first was Samini hosts Movado 2012 concert. The concert which was scheduled for the same time last year was also postponed for a different reason.
The event, organized by Phamous Media Group and LCA Ghana was originally scheduled for July 1 2012 in the Dome at the Accra International Conference. Demaco is expected to touch down in Ghana on Thursday July 5, 2012 and he will have enough time to honor a long line up of interviews scheduled for him.
The list of supporting artistes still remains the same. Other Ghanaian musicians expected to share the stage with the two dancehall stars are highlife show stoppers Rex Omar and Kwabena Kwabena. Hip hop/ Hip life stage rockers Tinny, Asem, Edem, Kaaki, Jupiter, Nsemkwa (Yaa Pono), Myron AK etc. Eazzy is billed to hit the stage for the first time since she got back from the Big Brother Stargame house in South Africa.
A top Nigerian music star would be announced the surprise act on the night. The Concert which targets all class of people for its diverse selection of highly sought-after artistes will be hosted by Abeiku Santana of Okay FM.
