An Information and Communications Technology (ICT) lecturer at a public university (name withheld) in Accra was on Sunday arrested for allegedly defrauding his victim of goods worth GH¢25,000. The lecturer, Bernard Owusu Yankey, is said to have introduced himself to the complainant in February last year as a dealer in detergents.He then asked the complainant to give him detergents to send to Liberia.
Briefing The Finder, the Adenta District Commander, DSP Stephen Ahiatafu, stated that after the goods had been given to Bernard in February last year, he went into hiding until November the same year when the complainant spotted him in a church at Adenta.
When confronted, Bernard convinced the complainant that the goods were in Liberia and that he would pay the complainant what was due him. Bernard went into hiding again until Wednesday, June 27, when the complainant got hold of him at the university and handed him over to the police.
