Kwaku Manu is known to be one of the hilarious actors in our local scenes. He always make movie lovers laugh whenever he is casted for a movie. Over the weekend he proved to the people of Ghana that he is not just an actor but he can also a sympathetic man. OMG!Ghana and its readers can surely attest to the fact that Kwaku Manu is one of the funniest actors in Ghana along side Agya Koo, Liwin, Mr. Beautiful and others
The Kumawood star disclosed that he was very humble when he started this job and he is still the same as he was.
‘People let the stardom stick into their head and start using it to do unnecessary things. As soon as they get one or two roles they start raising their shoulders and think they are ahead of those they came to meet. I came to meet Agya Koo, katawire, Mercy Asideu, Akrobeto and so many of the actors and some even came to meet me but I still give them the necessary respect they deserve.
I show lots of sympathy in my work that’s why God continues to bless me. There even at times I don’t charge the producers at the spot because some of them get their money after they have sold their movies so is then that they bring me my money. Everybody can testify to how I relate to them except those who hate me’
The ‘wo be te kraw’ hit maker added that he does all these things because he wants the producers to be able to earn enough so that they can produce more movies and introduce more movie stars in the system. He further disclosed that some of the producers are rascals that they won’t even remember you after selling their movies to pay you and it becomes a problem to get your money back.
The actor/musician who was asked of the amount he charged for his very first movie disclosed that, he acted for free in his first movie. It was even a divine intervention which felt on him to get his first role in the movie ‘Eda Wanim’. He was one of the elders of the village of which he appeared in less than five scenes.
‘ You will even thank God you even casted so you will not even talk about money with the producer because you become famous in the community you find yourself and everyone will be pointing his fingers on you. The producer fed me anytime we were on set and did everything I wanted for me so I never asked of money. Because should you ask of money and he says stay in the house what are you going to do?
I did that till it came to a point in time he asked me to charge him because I have suffered and even that I charged Ghc 50 and from there that the Most High God has made us reach where I am now’
He finally advised the up and coming actors that they should not rush for money because everything starts from somewhere, and as the saying goes ‘Rome was not built in one day’. Anything they are given they should take it in good faith and strive to work hard to win the hearts of his fans because good work pays.
