Lyon Coach Remi Garde Say He Won’t Buy AFCON Replacement For John Mensah

john mensah lyonLyon coach Remi Garde claims he will not make any back-up signing for Ghana captain John Mensah who will be leaving for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations. The centre-back will fly out with his international teammates for a pre-tournament camping at Rustenburg, South Africa on Friday.
Mensah has made one appearance for Lyon this season. Lyon will also be without Bakary Kone who will join Burkina Faso for the Nations Cup finals and are sweating over the fitness of versatile defender Cris .

“Reinforcements? We are studying the situation,” Garde said.

“The easiest thing to do would be to reinforce the squad to make up for those absences. But you can’t then play everybody and the group could lose its balance.

“We must not forget that the African Cup of Nations could be over for the likes of Kone at the end of January. “I am also waiting to see how quickly Cris can recover. “We would prefer to manage the situation with the squad we already have, perhaps playing some midfielders in defence.”
