Mali Coach Carteron Slams Referee For Ghana Win

fatau daudaMali coach Patrice Carteron has attributed his teams loss to the Black Stars of Ghana, to Ivorian referee Noumandiez Doue, insisitng the Ivorian official prevented his side from beating Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars had their first win in the competition by beating Mali 1-0 in an uninspiring game on Thursday, to enhance their chances of reaching the knock-out stage of the competition.

This result has left Mali very furious because according to them, the Ivorian referee failed to red-card Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda in the sixth minute for handling the ball outside the box with Seydou Keita poised to score.

The Ghana goalkeeper, escaped the foul, with just a caution and the resultant free-kick was balloned way off-target by Mali skipper Seydou Keita.

This incident is what has made Mali Coach Patrice Carteron furious.

“The referee did not help us because he ought to have sent off the Ghana goalkeeper rather than just booking him for handling the ball outside his area,” the Mali coach said after the game.
