Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli could again incur the wrath of his manager Roberto Mancini after he was reportedly clicked coming out of a strip club at 2.45 am.
Mancini was understood to be intent on starting the Italian forward in City’s home game against relegation-threatened Bolton Wanderers, but the controversial star’s latest misdemeanour could see the manager change his plans.
The City boss has previously outlined his expectation that players be at home and in bed at night when a first-team game is less than 48 hours away, but Balotelli was reportedly caught leaving the ‘X In The City’ strip club in Liverpool at 2.45 am.
The Sun reported that Balotelli was left “shamed” by the situation after it made the claims about the forward spending the evening in the club.
Mancini had recently publicly defended Balotelli, claiming he was still the best striker in Italy but needed to improve his behaviour.
“Mario is the best Italian striker, 100 per cent,” Mancini said. “I hope after this week, with him not playing for Italy, it will help him in for the rest of this season. We know Mario is a top player but he should improve his behaviour.”
Mancini had been relying heavily on Balotelli, who recently returned from a four-match ban for a stamp on Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker.
