Sulley Muntari was said to have attempted an attack on a fan in the stands during the Black Stars’ training on Monday. The AC Milan midfielder who will captain Ghana for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers was reacting to taunts by the said fan while coming across to effect a corner kick. The 27-year-old was however prevented from going into the stands to carry out his intentions by the security operatives present. Rather an ardent fan of Muntari popularly known as “Don’t Go There” carried out instant justice by issuing two hefty slaps on the said fan. Muntari’s emotional condition is currently unknown but the midfielder appeared very hurt by the taunts which according to sources involved mentions of his mother.
The former Udinese enforcer is no stranger to controversies. He was involved in an alteracation with a policeman during Ghana’s campaign in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers where he demanded an apology for verbal abuse on his then girlfriend Menaye Donkor at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. The Black Stars are in Kumasi finalizing their preparations towards their opening World Cup qualifier against Lesotho on Friday. The team will travel to take on reigning African champions Zambia in the next game on June 9.
