Nana Konadu to accept NDP’s offer as flagbearer?

FONKARFormer First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has hinted she may accept the offer by newly formed National Democratic Party (NDP), to lead the party in the 2012 presidential elections.Mrs. Rawlings, who is widely tipped to bear the flag of the NDP to the December polls, gave the hint at the Legends and Legacy Ball, which honoured Ghana’s high life king, Amakye Dede, over the weekend.

She was responding to a question from the MC for the night Kwame Sefa Kayi, who asked if she would compete in the presidential polls.According to Myjoyonline.com’s Adam Reese, her response attracted impressive applause from the audience.

Asked what will happen to Nana Addo and the others, Mrs. Rawlings responded, “we will push them aside,” throwing the gathering into wild laughter.The NDP on Monday opened nominations for persons interested in becoming the its flag-bearer to file for the slot.

Before then, its General Secretary, Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson had told Myjoyonline.com that the party’s grassroots were yearning for Nana Konadu’s leadership.

He said the NDP was hopeful that she will accept calls on her to become the standard-bearer of the party for the December 7 polls.
