For most contemporary musicians, the Hiplife genre is all about rap and nothing more!
Yes, this may be true in some regards but not in entirety, especially when a phenomenal neophyte like Nana Kwesi is put on the spotlight.
Indeed, the name Nana Kwesi may sound very unpopular to most Hiplife-lovers in the country. Nonetheless, he is the latest sensation to watch out for when searching for a proper definition of Hiplife music.
Fact is, Nana Kwesi knows and understands the genre, even better than most of his forebears. This is because his latest single, BO, gives credence to his rare creativity and mastery of the craft.
Very lyrical and dexterous, his style of rapping is the type that puts him at par with some of the best in the industry today. One may freely call him the best rapper because the description fits him, to a large extent!
And the interesting thing is that he does not only rap, but also uses his music to touch the very emotions of people – aside entertaining them. No wonder he takes inspiration from listening to varied music genres, once the lyrics are on point.
The BO single, expected to be released very soon, is produced by Gh-Brothers Entertainment, a fast-rising music production and artistes’ management outfit.
In an interview ahead of the release, Joseph Okyere, a manager of Gh-Brothers Entertainment, expressed the readiness of Nana Kwesi to take over the Hiplife industry and make a difference in it.
“He is an interesting guy who always wants to leave a mark with a difference. So, that is all that he tries to prove on the single BO,” J. Okyere explained, describing Nana Kwesi as “the newest rap genius to look out for!”
Nana Kwesi’s style of music takes inspiration from music genres across board, as he grew up listening to musical greats like Rex Gyamfi, Osibisa, Slim Young, Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba, KK Kabobo, Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, 2-Pac, Big Nas, Jiga, Angele Kudjoe and Miriam Makeba, among others.
“He’ll simply get you entertained and BO is the song to prove this,” J. Okyere added.
Nana Kwesi, real-name Samuel Kwesi Nimako Manu, is the 12th of 13 children born to Nana Okai Ababio II and Madam Felicia A. Nyarko. He read Science at the Senior High School and Business Administration at the Zenith University College in Accra – which he has deferred to promote his single.
Currently, he owns the Draft Unisex Salon at …………, which specializes in piercing and tattooing.
