Keeping all that foreskin is expensive, it turns out. Research by John Hopkins University has uncovered $2 billion in medical costs in the last 20 years since uncircumcised male babies became the rage. One hundred percent of those medical costs were preventable, the study contended, noting boys who are uncircumcised are more apt to get an infant urinary tract infection because bacteria gets trapped under the extra skin.
Later as adults, they’re more vulnerable to STDs, particularly HPV and HIV, the latter of which is blamed for the bulk of the costs. [Source]
