New Parma signing Afriyie Acquah says his dream is to play like compatriot Michael Essien. The 20-year-old moved to the Stadio Tardini this month on loan from fellow Serie A side Palermo. He is expected to feature prominently in Roberto Donadoni’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Acquah has been working with the rest of the Parma squad at Levico and made his debut last week in a friendly against Slavia Prague. He believes his style of play can be likened to Chelsea ace Michael Essien and reveals his admiration for Juventus star Andrea Pirlo.
“My reference is Michael Essien but I have a deep admiration for Pirlo. I have come to Parma to work hard and deserve the starting spot,” Acquah said.
Parma’s technical director Antonello Preiti also lauded the qualities of the former Ghana youth international.
“He loves to play in the center but can play very well. His arrival was delayed by only a few months and already last year we had followed him.”
