Photos:Chicago Strike Action Continues Into Its Second Week

Reports from Chicago has confirmed that the Chicago Teachers Union strike action still continues into its second week.Teacher evaluation and job security provisions have being the major concerns of the striking teachers.

As the country’s third-largest city, the city’s mayor, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is battling to bring stability in the city where about 350,000 students are awaiting his decision to be able to go back to the classroom.

The concerns of the teachers as outlined by their association include:

The teachers are hoping to preserve pay increases based on their seniority and level of education, and wanted to ensure recall rights for laid-off teachers who want to work in other schools. They also want to be reimbursed for up to $250 of what they spend out of their own pockets.
