President John Evans Atta Mills departed for the United States at the Kotoka Int. Airport on Saturday evening for what the President referred to as a routine health check-up for a “few days”.
This is the first time the president is making a public appearance in a couple of days with claims that he was on leave for a few days to cool down his stress.He did not come out to speak even in the wake of the Hohoe voilent clash.
Before his departure,he made explained to the press that he is very healthy and its just a normal check-up which should not alarm people on his health.
Addressing the press,the president touched on the rumours of his death that;
Indeed this is not the first time I’ve heard people say this about me…Let me just say that I’m very, very, very strong. And
I don’t know the basis for saying that I’m dead.
Well, let me just say that under our constitution the president has a duty to inform Parliament, to inform them whenever he’s
going outside the country. What I have decided to do is to go for a medical check-up. And this will not be the first time. I
go there and they make sure everything is okay.
So I’m going for a few days and then come back.
As the constitution makes it clearer,Vice President John Dramani Mahama will take over as President in his absence.
