Drivers who pride themselves on their ability to drift have nothing on this aircraft carrier captain. As part of its preparations for operating at sea, the USS Harry S. Truman did a maneuver called a power run and rudder swing, and it is definitely the coolest thing you’ve ever seen an aircraft carrier do.
The move is meant to test the ship’s steering system, and one of the engineering officers revealed the vessel was travelling at more than 30 knots when during the move. The quick turn made the ship roll as much as 13 degrees in each direction. Good thing the crew had cleared the deck before pulling it off.
