Paa Kwesi Nduom mourns Mills
Today, our nation is overwhelmed with sorrow. We may never understand why our leader has been called to God so soon. We must gather thoughts, prayers, love and support for our First Lady Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills and her family. We must remember that above all, President John Evans Atta-Mills was a faithful servant of God and Country. We must set aside our personal, political and religous differences as we join hands and mourn this national tragedy as one strong Ghanaian nation.
I am suspending my campaign for President of the Republic of Ghana with immediate effect. I am reflecting on the fleeting nature of life with my friends and family. I am using this tragic day as a reminder of what it really means to serve a higher purpose.
In the end, we all must meet our divine creator and answer for our deeds in this world. Let us all honor the memory of our late President, his excellency John Evans Atta-Mills by acting with honor, grace and an awareness of the sacred fragility of life as we move on in this election year.
Though I am deeply saddened by todays events, I am also proud of us as a nation. We have transferred power to our new President, John Mahama, without incident. We have shown the world that we are God-fearing men and women of laws and ideals. The character of a nation is revealed in its darkest moments. Today we have proved, yet again, that our character is noble and true.
Please join me in wishing that our late president, John Evans Atta-Mills, may rest in perfect peace.
Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom
