It’s easy to ignore one group of scientists saying sugar is making us stupid. It’s harder to ignore two groups of scientists. New research conducted by Australian National University’s College of Medicine suggests the sweet stuff can literally shrink our brains. People with blood sugar levels of 4ml to 6.1ml — at the upper end of the normal range — were found to have a greater risk of the brain atrophy that occurs with ageing and dementia.
Dr Nicolas Cherbuin, who conducted the study, said physical activity can lower blood sugar levels. So if you can’t stop cramming chocolate in your mouth, at least do it on a treadmill. [Source]
