The eclectic Afro pop duo FOKN Bois, comprising M3nsa and Wanlov, after giving the world the first pidgin musical ‘Coz Ov Moni’ returns this August with an exciting musical tour and talent search. The cross-country tour dubbed ‘Gimme Pinch Tour’ will start from August 24 -September 1 but will be preceded by the talent search dubbed, ‘The Big in Ghana Talent Hunt’.
The tour and search are geared towards fostering peace during Ghana’s upcoming general elections and also to help undiscovered music talents to find their biggest break in their careers. The ‘Big in Ghana Talent Hun’t is giving an opportunity to bands and artists to audition this August to join the FOKN Bois alongside Yaa Pono and Efya on the ‘Gimme Pinch Tour’.
Auditions will hold in four cities across Ghana as follows:
Takoradi, Café De Paris, August 4
Tema, T Havana (community 9), August 5
Kumasi, Reximar Hotel, August 11 and
Accra, Apollo Theatre, August 12
Aspiring musicians should arrive at the audition venues by 1pm with their songs on CDs or memory sticks and must be prepared to perform. Two artists from each city will get a publishing deal and audition for FOKN Bois who will select one artist from each city to take along on the ‘Gimme Pinch Tour’. In addition to performing with the FOKN Bois, winners will also get over GH¢ 20,000 worth of prizes, including a cash prize of GH¢ 3,000, a recording deal, professional video, management and promotion.
The ‘Gimme Pinch Tour’ will hold in the various cities as follows:
Takoradi, Jubilee Park, August 24
Tema, Chemu Park, August 25
Kumasi, Culture Centre, August 31
Accra, Holy Gardens, September 1
From September 3-9, the public gets to vote for an ultimate winner out of the four winners via SMS. Voters instantly receive a free ringtone of their favorite band/artist. M3nsa and Wanlov, who have already taken contemporary Ghanaian music to amazing heights by sharing international stages with Snoop Dogg, Sway, Femi Kuti, Little Brother, Irie Maffia and The Gorillaz, are very optimistic that at the end of the tour, Ghana will be more than united and ready for the upcoming election.
They comment: “With the elections coming up we want to spread the message of peace and hope hence as we tour these four cities in the country by the kind courtesy of Bavaria, we will also let Ghana decide which of the underexposed talents in music should achieve their dreams.”
