Yawa alert as a mason,Williams Opoku and a mechanic,Moses Agbeko pleaded guilty to conspiracy and stealing of a got belonging to one Mr. Otu Kofi,in a court preside over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong.A crime that led to a fine of a total of GH¢120 by a circuit court at Akim Swedru in the Birim South District.
For a goat valued at GH¢100,they would each pay GH¢60 or in default, three months in prison and also pay GH¢100 to Mr. Kofi as compensation.
Prosecuting Officer, Police Chief Inspector Kingsley Antwi said the persons involved live at Akim Praho and that on June 30, this year at about 10:30 hours, Mr. Kofi’s daughter, Ms. Akosua Ofosua, spotted Opoku and Agbeko stealing her father’s goat and alerted her father.
Chief Inspector Antwi stated that when Mr. Kofi and his daughter proceeded to the convicts’ house, they saw the goat slaughtered and being roasted, they then made a report to the police who arrested culprits.
They also retrieved parts of the roasted meat from them for evidence and after interrogation both of them were prosecuted, he said.
