Yvonnique as most of Yvonne Nelson’s high school mates affectionately call her has no doubt created one of the benchmark as far as acting is concerned. The screen goddess from the onset had always wanted to be hiplife/hiphop artiste. In an interview with her school daughter, Sarah Broni whom Yvonne nicknamed ‘Freaky Lady’, she said:
“I was totally stunned when I first saw my school mother and friend in a Venus production blockbuster movie ‘PRINCESS TYRA’ which set the tone in the acting industry for her. I couldn’t believe my eyes because the Yvonnique that I knew her back in from 2003 was never interested in acting. Maybe we were all missing something because everbody thought she would someday be a hip-hop artiste or something.”
“she was so much in control of her inborn musical talent back in the day that she once won the best female rapper award in Aggrey Memorial Zion School in Cape Coast and even went further to represent our school on a number of occasions,” she marveled.
When HELLO! GH called YN by her nickname via phone, she felt so shocked and asked if our reporter was an AMOSA (name given to all old students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School). She confirmed all that her daughter said and promised to go back to music at the right time. Nana Boateng a.k.a. Nana B of Phamous Philms was her mate too and he had this to say; “Trust me the girl’s style is outta Africa, if she’s taking awards in what she wasn’t born for, what else will you expect when she comes back to what she knows doing best?”
Some section of the media claim GH rapper Tricmatic and Yvonne are in a secret relationship but trig says there’s no iota of truth in d rumour. “Its something we’ve both heard of and we’ll soon clear the air in a song on my next album. “My Paddy” talks about our friendship when we were growing up, Yvonne’s voice is on it and her raps will blow everyone away” Trig reveals.
Yvonne is currently in the US where she picked yet another award. She was naturally delighted and said: “Thank God for this award”. On her twitter Bio: “FOUNDER of the YNGF, Joy FM Nite with the Stars BEST ACTRESS 2009, Ghana’s Favorite Actress 2010, City People Best GH Actress 2011 and Best African Actress 2012 at AEA.”
